I bought a SIGLENT 2 channel 200 MHz scope on Amazon to use in trouble shooting step/direction problem. Cost $400-$500. Worked fine after a little time to figure out controls.

I would take a step back and remove the encoder cable from any cable bundle and separate it from any high current electrical items. It could be that the cable movements simply put the encoder cable in a noise position.

Suggest you do the simulation run in Fusion 360 to verify that it is doing what you think it should. Then I would suggest you double check the post processor you are using.
