Re: Acorn not working

Ok. Got a new bbg from Amazon. I followed the instructions on Marty's video. All that happens when pressing the user button when powering up with the micro usb plug is the blue power light comes on. No 4 blue lights. Did I miss something with a fresh board. I'm a machinist with a little knowledge of...

Acorn not working

While I was in the middle of using my machine today, I got a network not connected error on the cnc 12 software. Upon further investigation, I found the heartbeat light not to be flashing. However the other solid blue power light was on solid. I exited cnc 12 then powered down and powered up my cont...

Re: Any word on the I/O expansion acorn board.

Very good to hear.

Any chance you can give an approximate size of the board. Just want to make sure I leave enough room in my cabinet.

Thanks

Any word on the I/O expansion acorn board.

Just curious if anyone has heard anything. I'm at a crossroad right now where having it would be nice, but can probably make due by using other hardware.

Re: Correct lathe spindle and x axis directions

Just to make sure I understand: X is positive moving away from centerline. Ok makes sense. So in theory I should never see a negative X number unless I'm looking at my machine position because the machine is homed at the furthest point away from centerline from x. Or in the case where the tool would...

Correct lathe spindle and x axis directions

OK, so this is probably straight from the lathe 101 beginning class. I'm a little confused as to which direction M3 and M4 command with respect to rotation. I know M3 commands a clockwise direction. And M4 commands acounterclockwise direction. I suppose the confusion stems from operating a CNC mill....

Re: Emco 6p lathe retrofit/tool turret

A little update on my tool turret. While I have not attempted to use the PLC program that I got from centroid yet, I have addressed some of the concerns I had with running the 24vdc turret motor. As mentioned before, the way the system works is the turret rotates in one direction until the sensors i...

Re: Setting steps using Clearpath sdsk servos on emco 120p

Thank you for all the replies. Turns out the Gibbs were a little too tight to then point where I would loose .002-.003" of motion before the screw would reverse. I went ahead and ordered the higher resolution motors and am much happier with the results. As far as my inconsistent readings, I thi...

Setting steps using Clearpath sdsk servos on emco 120p

As the conversion continues I'm at the point where im fine tuning the motion on my emco 120p axises The calculation: Machine units are inch Ball screws have a 5mm pitch Motor to screw pully is 2:1 Steps per rev on the sdsk servo is 800 (1600 steps per screw revolution) The math suggests that my turn...
