Re: Acorn Tool Height offset problem
fuelzer, Suggest (a) you start your own thread on this (b)read up setting up your tools library (Chapter 5 Centroid's Mill Operator manual) (c) don't start modifying your Post Processor until you at least understand the basics of G Code. FYI, the tool height compensation is done automatically once y...

Re: Configuring Acorn for 0-5V spindle control
Suggest you wait for CNC12 v4.60 which supports both 0-5v and PWM that is about to be released once the public beta has finished

Re: Newbie converting a PM-728VT
Agreed Marty - My Zyxel has an Aluminium case and yes with fully shielded Cat 7 cablesmartyscncgarage wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 9:43 am IF you try an ethernet switch, make sure it has shielding. You will note the ethernet cable shipped with Acorn has a metal jacket around the connector.
My guess is "cheapie" switches are not shielded?

Re: Newbie converting a PM-728VT
Agree with Marty but absolutely nothing wrong in using a SUITABLE ethernet switch providing it is the same or better specs as Centroid themselves use when supplying the 1616 Ether addons. In fact, I use this Technique (with a Zyxel gigaswitch) for powering both my router and mill from a single CNC P...

Re: Not getting max travel
Example 1: You have a letter envelope 6 x 8 (imagine MCS) and a label 5 x 7 (imagine WCS) to stick on it. You then position the label top 2 inches from the top of the envelope - Your label now overlaps the bottom by 1 inch. Example 2: Imagine your garage is 20 feet long (imagine MCS) and your SUV is...

Re: Software options for signs
Another feature of Vectric's current pricing model is that you only pay the difference between their different products if you subsequently decide you need the more expensive one. I've recently done exactly that upgrading Vcarve Pro to Aspire for just the cost difference. The best feature, unlike ma...

Re: Not getting max travel
Simple answer is your previous WCS and the CNC job using it were not set correctly. The error you received was due to the WCS / Job combo trying to move the spindle outside the Machine limit co-ords (MCS) at some point. Remember that the soft limits are always in MCS defined as distances from the MC...

Re: Tool Length Sensor
Tuffduck, I think Swissi identified the cause of your unwanted Spindle start a few posts back when he said he had "looked at your modified mfunc6.mac file and noticed you uncommented the alternative M225 command but you did not comment out the default M225 command. That means you are getting tw...

Re: ProbeApp V2: The ultimate solution for Tool Height Offsets
The video Swissi posted above is certainly worth a look. Although the latency aspect can be allowed for to a large extent by following an accurate calibration procedure such as that provided by Centroid with their DP-4. For this purpose they provide a nominal 1" bore setting ring by SPI with th...

Re: Not getting max travel
Try setting your WCS X and Y co-ords to the Home position (or +0.001" if you prefer) and recalculate the toolpath keeping within 22.9" (or 22.901"). I don't understand you have neg directions in there for facing but I can't see your machine. This is way I surface my spoilboard but you...
