Re: Step dir to CW CCW?
Easiest thing would to find a modern NEMA 34 size with a 9.5mm shaft....but they don't exist and I am sure having one machined is rather costly(normally 14mm)

Re: Step dir to CW CCW?
So what your all saying so far is no ACORN can not be modified.in the PLC to use CW/CCW type driving? This means I will use an Arduino for now as I already made one do tool.changes and when the lathe can cut material I can machine a new shaft adapted for a more modern drive for ACORN. Though I could ...

Step dir to CW CCW?
I've got a turret tool changer that is driven by an ancient stepper motor that runs at at 150v. I've tried various other drives and voltages but it's never very happy and heats up enough to melt the insulation (happened to one of the old drives on the z. The old driver still works but it's using CW ...

acorn db25 voltage clarifications
Ive got my scope hooked up to the 1st step pin of the db25 and acorn is configured from the wizard to use the db25 connector. Im feel like i am missing something as by default the pin is pulled high 5v and stepping pulls it to 0v. I would have thought it 0 and then pulled high. I've attached an ...

Re: encoder requirements
Uwe, great. Higher rpms sounds more usable to me than a c axis at the moment. Did you go with genuine omron encoders or the cheaper version that i can see for around 30$ on aliexpress? --doesnt seem like a polite question to ask oh dear:/

Re: encoder requirements
Thanks Uwe, I now get the frequency relation thanks:) I should also clarify its for a lathe spindle. But of course ultimate goal here is for ridged tapping also.

Re: encoder requirements
right the Omron e6b2-cwz1x 2000, I see these everywhere on ebay/aliexpress ect but is anyone actually using the chinese versions on production machines? I was favoring a 5000ppr German made second hand over it but wasn't sure the pulse count was too high to get laggy in software.
