Re: Inside the Boxford 250PC lathe turret

Hi Andre Just do a search for IFM 3002 ANOG It has to be an ANOG switch There are plenty on e bay maybe secondhand in the USA so there might be 20% import duty on top. You could always fit it on the outside of the turret and make it adjustable.

Re: Inside the Boxford 250PC lathe turret

They are NPN proximity switches made by IFM. They work with 24 volts when anything comes close to the switch "within 2mm" it will trigger the switch and drop the voltage to zero which stops the stepper motor. Then the motor moves the slide away from the switch until it goes 24 volts again ...

Re: Hobby lathe with AC servos

I thought that the Acorn board would only accept step and direction drivers/motors. And this is why the servo has got a step/dir-port ;) Why do Centroid make a allin1DC if the the Acorn will run servo motors? I have large servo motors on my milling machine which have tachometers. In one of Marty's ...

Re: Hobby lathe with AC servos

Can you describe how you got your AC servo motors working with an Acorn board. How did you wire the motor and driver to the Acorn. I thought that the Acorn board would only accept step and direction drivers/motors.

Re: Hobby lathe with AC servos

When you say that you have servo motors. Do you mean stepper motors with encoders "hybrid steppers"? I have a milling machine with servo motors but they are DC and i don't think that they will work with the Acorn control board.

Re: Internal threading on a turret lathe Rear mounted tools

I don't understand how "the tool library will not allow you to configure a threading tool to work on the inside front of the bored hole". That's an issue for me potentially, as my turret lathe seems to operate in a very similar way, so I'd like to understand more. How are you generating y...

Re: Internal threading on a turret lathe Rear mounted tools

The tool library will not allow you to configure a threading tool to work on the inside front of the bored hole. I assume by "front" you mean the X- (negative diameter) side, since your turret is in back, and therefore X+ should be to the back. In that case, you will need to enter negativ...

Internal threading on a turret lathe Rear mounted tools

I am having trouble finding a threading boring bar to work on the inside back side of the work. In the CNC 12 tool library it seems that i can only put a tool in that is rear mounted to work on the back side inside bore. The tool library will not allow you to configure a threading tool to work on th...

Inside the Boxford 250PC lathe turret

I just thought i would share a photo of the inside of the Boxford 250PC lathe turret. The tool position NPN switch is inside. It is working on an axis driven macro. It moves forward using a distance command then reverses until it opens the NC switch. When the lobes of the ratchet come up to the swit...

Re: Screwcutting

Max feed for Z with stepper was 5000mm/min with 20x5mm ball screw and Stepper belted 2:1 4000 puls/rev Now with servo also 4000 puls/rev, Acorn set to 400 khz and out comes 15000mm/min, but I use only 10000mm/min , because this reaches the critical rpm for the long ballscrew. Uwe I managed to leave...
