Re: Cuts not repeatable, losing steps(FIXED) but will continue thread

The mystery deepens. What name should we use so that we all know whose boards and cables to use? Haha, my initials are SJ and SJTHERMY is the project name I gave to my Thermowood CNC conversion. I guess I should remove that reference from the title block of those drawings:) I'm glad the board is wo...

Re: Cuts not repeatable, I'm losing steps

I'm interested in learning more about the Kentonsj differential board. I have not yet built a differential prototype for my DMM DNY4 750W driver/servo. My board uses two TI AM26C31 quadruple differential line drivers to convert the TTL logic from the DB25 to differential. I also added some breakout...

Re: Cuts not repeatable, I'm losing steps

That's good news that the board has helped. Your steps/revolution in the Acorn wizard should be 4 times your DMM Gear number. Your report shows your fast jog at 60IPM. Let's use 60IPM for easy math. 60I/M / 60sec/min = 1 inch per second. 10 turns per inch equals 10 turns/second on you servo motor. 1...

Re: Cuts not repeatable < overall turns ratio >>>not the problem, I'm losing steps

KENTONSJ it appears you have created your own board for your build - nice job!!! Is this something you sell or is it a one off? I am not an electrical engineer so the subject of differential line drivers is beyond my current scope. Any info /resources you could point me to would be appreciated. It ...

Re: Cuts not repeatable < overall turns ratio >>>not the problem, I'm losing steps

When I started my build, there was some discussion on the DYN4 connection details. I chose to go a different route given the inconsistent results that some seemed to have. I built a differential line driver converter (with input and help from this forum) that uses the signals from the DB25 and conve...

Thermwood C53 5x10 Router to Acorn

I have finally got to the point that I'm calling my retrofit complete. In reality, there are still plans for more tweaking but it's making parts and I now have to tackle this list of projects that was growing while I did the retrofit. My donor machine was a 1997 Thermwood C53 5x10 router. It came fr...

Re: Tool touch off from a single point.

Hello I've recently converted an OEM Avid CNC NEMA 23 controller over to Centroid Acorn (Mach 4... Why is it even sold?) and everything works rather smoothly (100khz seems to work fine with the Leadshine stepper drivers). However, up until now I've always used LinuxCNC and did all of my tool height...
