Re: Tool Change Macro Help

I was able to get it to work properly, no need to remeasure Tool 1 (same tool used for setting part offsets). I think it had something to do with the macro and G54. Copied the subsequent tool change macro and used it instead. No need to reset Tool 1 anymore. Thanks guys.

Re: Tool Change Macro Help

I read your tool height measurement paper and its exactly how i've been thinking of this problem. It also doesn't really help me any further. Were you able to look at my macro file? Is there anything wrong that would explain why i have to touch off the 1st tool after setting part Z0 in the part setu...

Re: Tool Change Macro Help

Ok, i think i got it. I realized that although you set up the part initially and set Z0 using the initial tool, the initial tool still needs to be touched off using the tool setter (unless im wrong about this). I guess it keeps the Z0 and touch off values separate, the initial tool touch off value i...

Re: Tool Change Macro Help

So looks like the macro is working however there is a new problem. After the tool is measured and goes back to the workpiece to start cutting, its at the height of the tool setter (because i set that as new Z0). Problem is its not at the correct height- its cutting in the air. When i start up the ma...

Re: Tool Change Macro Help

I was looking into this but worried about deflection due to longer stick-out with the end stop, also not sure about vibration issues with 10k rpm.

Re: Tool Change Macro Help

Thanks Keith! I found a plugin called "Post Process All" which does the work for you. Have you tried this? It notes compatibility with Centroid’s posts. Looks intriguing but I might just do it manually for now like you suggested, inserting M98 + M6 between each setup. Here is the link if y...

Tool Change Macro Help

I have a Taig CNC Mill running Acorn. It has an ER16 collet so it would follow a "router style" tool change routine from Centroid's recommendation. Due to the fact im using Fusion360 Personal i am only allowed 1 tool per program. My Z Home sets my tool reference point (as enabled). My curr...

Re: Machine parameter for Linear encoder input

Good point about the DB9. Will be sure to verify.

Im having difficulty finding the exact parameter in the manual, there are many options related to scales. Any chance you could you point me in the right direction?

Machine parameter for Linear encoder input

Id like to use a linear encoder scale to measure my ballscrew and compensate, its an Aikron AKM1 (5v RS422). Theoretically i should be able to connect it directly to the Acorn's encoder input since it has the necessary wiring. However i need to find the machine parameter that sets the Acorn's encode...
