Re: knee mill reference tool

My touch probe is the Hallmark ITTP. Probe tip doesn't break.

Re: knee mill reference tool

My knee has a 6" quill that I use as the Z axis. I set the knee height for a given job. Then use a probe to set my Z height. My probe is measured whenever I measure tool heights. So, the probe is my reference tool (T99). This works really well for me.

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

To be clear, I have ordered a new CNC plasma table from a machine manufacturer.. That is what Shawn and I are talking about.

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

I don’t use probing as often on the router compared to the milling machine. Mostly because my material is often plenty big on the router for a given work piece. It is really nice when modifying an existing part, adding a feature, or rotating WCS. I’m glad I have the probe on the router. Yes, I’m exc...

Re: Cuts not repeatable, I'm losing steps

I just bought a new CNC Plasma from a major vendor and I’m sure I’ll be throwing WinCNC in the trash as soon as Centroid’s THC Acorn setup is released. hello. please share some photos of the plasma machine. When I say "new", I mean it is still being built. One of the plasma beta testers h...

Re: Converting Chinese CNC Router from XHC Mach3 Motion Controller

Approaching four years since I did the Acorn conversion on the router. It has never, not once, pulled any of the crap that Mach3 did when I had it.

Re: Cuts not repeatable, I'm losing steps

Thanks for the additional detail, Shawn. In my case, on all my machines the motor flange and shaft size were the same as a DMM servo offering. Pulleys/motor couplings and mounting flange bolted right up. This is significant when you don’t have support machinery to make or modify what you’d need to u...

Re: Cuts not repeatable, I'm losing steps

The advantage is DMM makes motors that bolt up to standard NEMA sizes. And, they work great when connected to DB25 on Acorn.

Re: Cuts not repeatable < overall turns ratio >>>not the problem, I'm losing steps

...but my understanding was that the resistor in the DMM cable brought 24V down to 5V - I may be wrong, it happened once before. Is this NOT a noise issue? With a plain DC circuit, a resistor does exactly what you describe; it drops voltage, regulates current, and dissipates the extra energy as hea...
