Re: Hall Effect Sensor Compatable with Acorn

Thanks Brenden

Good advise and I have a difficult machine to get the encoder on....these guys have some stuff that might work for me.

Hall Effect Sensor Compatable with Acorn

Hi guys, I am looking to bring in by spindle speed temporarily through a magnetic pick/Hall effect sensor. Later I will modify the machine to use an encoder. I looking at the example schematic by Centroid, does anyone have a PN for an Hall effect sensor that they have had good luck with? Thanks Roge...

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

All, Thanks for all of your inputs...we have solved the issue and I will attempt to explain here.... 1. Control panel was built using pre-3/5/2021 schematics provided by Centroid (using 24VDC and no pull-up resistors) 2. When checking the function of the system by attempting to move the axis using t...

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

This may or may not have been mentioned, but Centroid's ENA logic is not really setup to be used on stepper systems, especially closed loop with alarms. They work great on systems that provide encoder feedback to the controller, but as reported here dozens of times, do not enable the drives until m...

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

Marty, The machine is wired per the latest (3/5) schematic provided by Centroid. I understand that you are using the other option but we chose not to use that because: 1. They wouldn't answer questions about the board (what is the large chip in the middle) via their tech support. 2. Not to introduce...

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

When you power up, you should be able to use the VCP Axis buttons to jog the motors. You can remove the Axis1,2,3DriveOK Input assignments temporarily to see if you get motors to move. If you left Ether1616 in its default, it takes a GROUND to pull its inputs low to activate them. The inputs themse...

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

Here is how I have the drive okay inputs wired. I only have shown one axis here but all three are the same just using a separate input on the Ether16.

Thanks

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

Well I am using the 24VDC brought into the Ether16 and using IN5-IN7 for the Drive1,2,3AxisOkay. I can see them being lit up on the LED's when the Acorn enables the drives.

I'd be glad to know if I've done something wrong but I can see the inputs turn on and off on the board and the ALT I screen.

Re: Acorn+ClearPath Servos - Axis Fault during Home

I am helping Wolfgang with this job...we have the HLFB coming into the Ether16 using 24VDC thus no need for the SIP's. As for the setting on the HLFB on the motor, all we have done is set the encoder resolution and told the motor that it is "Step and Direction" Doesn't appear to have a &qu...
