Re: Cut Quality Issues with Clearpath Servo
All, Thanks for the suggestions from everyone. The feedback aligns with my own thoughts of likely issues. I did make the changes I discussed, specifically stiffening the table the machine rests on significantly. Upon closer inspection, I found that I could (with some effort) create an oscillation of...

Cut Quality Issues with Clearpath Servo
All, I am running an Avid Benchtop Pro with clearpath servos and am having poor cut quality. I'm wondering if someone could help point me in the right direction. These scalloped edges are programmed as straight cuts that are running approximately 45 degrees. The cut is moving the X and Y axis simult...

Re: Clearpath sdsk, c86 board issues
If you provide a photo of how you currently have the C86 wired we may be able to offer some clarification. The C86 board also "remaps" the axis a little to allow it to support a hardware paired 5th axis on a controller, that may be part of the confusion. That said, if you don't provide mor...

Re: loss of position and lost communications ACORN
What type of computer are you using? Can you send a picture of your panel? I had the exact same issues on 2 machines with 3 computers. Tested everything I could including checking grounding in the panel. I finally used a switch between the computer and acorn and it was a 100% resolution to the issue...

Re: Clearpath sdsk, c86 board issues
1. Can you provide a picture of how your C86 is wired? Looking for where you molex connectors are plugged in. 2. Are you using custom made control cables or cables from Tecnik? 3. Have you double checked wiring per the C86 user manual? 4. Can you temporarily switch the X and Z cables on a C86 and se...

Re: Z Axis Travel Exceeded- Confusion about Work/Tool Offset
Well..... That is embarrassing. I didn't have G43 active when establishing Z0 for my G54 work offset. I just tested it and don't have any issues now and the program runs where I would expect.

Z Axis Travel Exceeded- Confusion about Work/Tool Offset <self resolved>
zAll, This will be a series of dumb questions that show my ignorance about work and tool offsets. My previous CNC experience using a tool library with offsets and toolholders comes from using Tormach Path Pilot. I am using the great Probe App and Swissi's recent ATC option as well. That said, I am h...

How to set delay for spindle ramp down? (Resolved)
I looked around for this couldn't find the information. I'm sure that I overlooked it somewhere. Could someone please tell me how I can set the delay for the M5 (Spindle off) command? For example, if my spindle takes 5 seconds to ramp down from 24,000 rpms, how can I ensure that the machine pauses f...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn
Hi Clay, You bring up some good points that deserve some further clarification. The section of the ClearPath manual that you posted is specifically regarding the connecting and disconneting of power cables. The purpose of this sequence is to prevent the arc (spark) when a live connection is made (o...

Re: New Build: SYIL X4 CNC Mill, Clearpath SDSK, C86ACCP & Centroid Acorn
Was there any follow on to this suggestion to tie the e-stop contactor to the input of the IPC-5 - on the face of it this seems to make sense, and the 24V backup voltage would still allow the drive logic to keep the location? I am unsure why you would want to power off the IPC-5 vs. just disconnect...
