Re: spindle speed error and rigid tapping
Works Great! It is able to compensate for the rpm error no problem Here are some videos PM-30MV old school brushless servo with analog pot adjustment 3D printed pulley for encoder off of low range belt pulley Tapping 1/4-20 with spiral tap Using tormach compression tap holder for safety - because i ...

Re: spindle speed error and rigid tapping
Centroid uses the exact speed measured by the encoder to calculate the Z feedrate. I was reading the tech bulletin 304 and it was saying to have the rpm match commanded within 1 rpm. but if what youre saying is true, that is pretty neat thanks! :) "Making Threads Notes: a.) Be sure to check th...

spindle speed error and rigid tapping - [acorn can compensate - works well - vids attached]
How well does acorn compensate in Z speed if the spindle rpm (measured by encoder) is off from commanded rpm? Or does it compensate at all? Like if I tap at 640 rpm and the motor is actually turning 700 rpm will it just plunge faster so the threads are "fine"? My spindle motor is an ancien...

Re: Vice recommendations
I would strongly strongly recommend getting one of those SMW fixture plates for your bed and running the mod vise.
I save so much time on setup it is night and day difference.
Plus can mount normal vise to the fixture plate

Re: Spindle encoder issues
the wire colors mean nothing and every manufacture uses different color combos reference the wire color code printed on the side of the encoder or in its tech sheet then compare that to acorns published DB9 pinout and make sure they match Here is the acorn pinout https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtop...

This one from automation direct is very small and works very good. i use it on my mill
1 inch tall, .75 inch wide, 1.25inch long
claims 0.0005mm repeatability

Re: Help with servo driver wiring
It is just sinking vs sourcing
two ways to make pulses:
Switch the positive lead, leaving negative constant
Switch the negative leg leaving positive constant (what they are doing here)
just wire it common positive, shouldnt be a big deal

Anyone ever run CNC12 on server hardware? in a windows VM? Through a switch?
Ive got a Lenovo ThinkServer RD350 with a Xeon E5-2690 v4 (1985 single thread CPU score) 14 core 28 thread I am wondering how well CNC12 will run in a windows VM on that server? The hardware will be way more stable than any desktop / laptop i have, and all my CAD and prints are already on the server...

stuck in one direction at slow speed is what happens when you unexpectedly trip the probe, or i think limit switch
check that?
check that?
