Re: Question: Vertical Lathes and Graphics View Alignment?

Great, thanks Keith!

I'll post a proper build thread when everything is done, but here's a sneak peak:

Question: Vertical Lathes and Graphics View Alignment?

Hi Guys!

I've been building lathes for vertical turning of high voltage insulators for a few years now. Was running Mach, but on the latest one have gone with the Acorn (not my first Acorn project, but my first vertical lathe with one).

Here's a video showing an old one running on Mach: https ...

Re: Question: Vertical Lathes and Graphics View Alignment?

Thanks Keith, that's fantastic! I've had a wee play around with Inkscape and made a couple of buttons - seems easy enough when you get your head around it :)

Re: Question: Vertical Lathes and Graphics View Alignment?

Okiedokie - I've figured out how to view a custom VCP in the emulator. A bit of a head scratch until I realised that I just needed to overwrite the default (couldn't find an option for custom skins in the VCP without the wizard).

I'm running into some trouble getting my logo files to fit the grid ...

Re: Acorn losing position, but in a bit of a weird way

G'day Keith,

Good news - looks like we've got it sorted! I'll run production on Monday and confirm, but so far so good :)
Here's a quick breakdown of what I did - hopefully it's of use to someone else one day.

Turning the machine on and jogging around, I was able to create a few COM's errors in ...

Re: Acorn losing position, but in a bit of a weird way

Thanks Keith, I'll attack that and report back.

Would you recommend updating software version prior to this?

Acorn losing position, but in a bit of a weird way < communications errors resolved>

Hi All!

I've been having an interesting issue with my mill, and am wondering if anyone has seen something similar or has any ideas.
As a bit of background, I build and service CNC equipment for a living, so have seen a lifetimes worth of issues, but this one is definitely new to me! I haven't been ...

Optimum BF20 Running on Acorn

Hi All,

Here's a little Optimum Mill upgrade I just finished up. Still a couple of little sheet metal parts to tidy it up, but all running smoothly and into production. I'm pretty pleased with how the sheet metal enclosure turned out - it's all laser cut, folded and rivetted together.

The brains ...

Re: Rigid Tapping - A novel approach to spindle speed synch

Hi cncsnw,

Thanks for that. That is exactly how I understood the rigid tapping function to work. I found that I was still making a mess with the threads though until I managed to sort the spindle speed via the bodge above.
It's entirely possible that I do have an incorrect setting - I enabled ...
