Re: What happens when Acorn doesn't have an encoder reading spindle rpm when the CAM program calls out a spindle speed?

Ok so the CAM program will try to do its best to guess spindle rpm based on how I define my machine max rpm. If max is 6000rpm and I tell it the tool needs 3000rpm it will essentially adjust spindle rpm to be 50% right?

What happens when Acorn doesn't have an encoder reading spindle rpm when the CAM program calls out a spindle speed?

I've ran into probobly a dumb question while just beginning to learn how to use my Acorn retrofitted mill. I bought an encoder for my spindle but I need to machine the brackets to actually mount it. If I send a CAM file to my mill to make these parts what will happen when say the tool being used req...

Question on wiring schematic nomenclature

I'm wiring up an encoder to Acorns DB9 port and have some questions. On the Acorn schematic, does the Z\ mean Z- ? Also I think the COM would be the ground on my encoder wiring (second picture) and the N/C would probably be the shield, does that sound right? Screenshot_20230220_130051_Gallery.jpg Sc...

Re: Having trouble modifying the PLC code for a DMM spindle motor

Good idea, I'll look into that. I'll find where those macros are kept in the system this week and let you know how it goes. I'm wondering, since I called out a timer, is there any type of display I can pull up as a sanity check that yes in fact the timer is activating? I have a gut feeling that my t...

Having trouble modifying the PLC code for a DMM spindle motor

I installed a DMM servo motor (DYN4 driver) to run a spindle on a small benchtop mill and am having some spindle fault issues. I followed the thread from a couple years ago now https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=4981&p=42068#p42068 and added in the code cncsnw was awesome enou...

Re: Fusion 360 cam

The probe functions of CNC12 and all other machine controllers are just G-code programs. So, you can run them manually, like while setting up parts, or they can be included in the part program. Probing while machining is useful for determining if the previous operation completed successfully; adjus...

Re: Fusion 360 cam

https://www.autodesk.com/campaigns/fusion-360-personal-use-changes That's awesome! Thank you. My Google searches were going in circles before. What's the effect of no probing for Centroid users? Is that like probing your tool height/diameter after each tool change? I can't think of a probing operat...

Fusion 360 cam

I'm putting the free version of fusion 360 on my computer this weekend only to use its cam feature. Does anyone have the paid version or know what additional features are unlocked? So far I've gathered there are no rapid moves or tool changers in the free version of fusion 360. Is that it? Is the fr...

Re: post processor for 3d experience from solidworks

I found this site that has a centroid post processor for mill and lathe. Who knows if it will work or not? https://hawkridgesys.com/cam-post-processors I'll be having this problem too very shortly I think, I just assumed post processors were easy to find and everywhere. Are there any tools or resour...
