Re: Importing tool library

you can simply copy the tool lib and WCS files from the old installation in to the new one. If I want to save more complex jobs, I save these files with the ncfile, and copy them back if I run this job again. Uwe That's all I've ever done but I assume the motive for being able to export is so you c...

Re: Importing tool library

It's a good question. If you can export a tool library, you might equally expect to be able to import it too. I think the OP was wondering why there wasn't a corresponding "import library" option.

Re: Single End vs Both End Grounding

This is indeed an old chestnut - or possibly a hot potato! Not sure I'd fully agree with the aerial explanation. And you may be aware that there are some aerials that have the active conductors grounded at both ends. The more common explanation as to why shields work is the faraday cage, where an el...

Many thanks for pointing that out! It passed me by in plain sight. I'll get on it now....

Re: Going from V4.62 to V4.82 PROBLEM

Do you have an ETA for 4.99 r5 yet? I've just set up a new GMKtec NUCbox 9 PC to upgrade my aging MSI all in one but although I've installed CNC12 and it seems to talk to the Acorn, I have held off on configuring it for my system for now. https://www.gmktec.com/collections/mini-pc/products/amd-ryzen...

Re: ATC for Mori Seiki Lathe

My Tree CNC lathe also has an 8 position hydraulically operated ATC turret. It has 8 individual switches to report the current position, rather than the more normal 3 or 4 line BCD / Gray code. They change state slightly ahead of the turret reaching the lock position, so there is a time delay parame...

Re: Post Processor

I assume he's determined to edit the post processor to force the G54 to appear in a different place. I'm not convinced that editing the post processor is appropriate or necessary. Thousands of users manage to get this to work without issue and I don't get the impression there is full understanding a...

Re: Resistor ID help

That looks like the soft start resistor to me, sitting next to the soft start relay - but that's only a guess. These limit the inrush current when mains is applied. Once the bus caps are charged up, the relay shorts out the resistor and the VFD is ready for action. Often the resistor burns out becau...

Re: Turning off the Controller

In the exit screen there is an option to park the machine - and also an option to power off the PC. If by "controller" you mean your PC, then perhaps this is what you are after. You will still need to power down the power circuits unless you have somehow wired in your contactor to open whe...

Re: Surface probe that generates height deltas

Be wary of simple fixes. If the error is due to process variation that is inherent in your machine, then trying to compensate for it by subtracting the last deviation may actually double your inherent variation. That may sound counterintuitive but it's a very common mistake, not just in machine tool...
