Height Offset always adds an additional value of 2.000"

Hi,

I first rehomed the mill.
Next when setting Z Ref using F10, the value is captured normally, it's shown on the display correctly.
A after using the Manual Measure F2 function the value shown in Height Offset table is always the correct offset value plus 2.000". For example a physically measured ...

Re: Explain the value that displayed by the Spindle: ? A

Problem identified: Encoder quadrature error when motor RPM exceeds around 4000 RPM. Suggestions are most welcome.
I don't need to do tapping at this time. Complete diagnostic is needed when I have the time.
1) Your value from Parameter 78? 0.0000
2) Your value from Parameter 34? 2000.0000 ...

Re: Explain the value that displayed by the Spindle: ? A

The RPM of the spindle motor as I suspected.

But it's significantly in error. I measured the spindle motor's actual RPM using a reliable optical tachometer. The displayed RPM is approximately 2.2x the actual measured RPM.

Any ideas about how to correct this error?

How to keep the spindle from rotating when using the MDI function?

My expectation is to end up with +/- 0.001 positional accuracy. So far it has worked.
One concern I have is that the spindle is not kept from rotating. Very little rotational force is placed on the spindle in this setup, However, I would prefer to be able to have the spindle not be able to rotate ...

Re: Axis direction problem when using the Touch (3D) Probe

Hi Keith,
Your instructions were very helpful. The 3D probe is now working correctly.
I have attached a report that I ran after I made the needed changes.
Thank you for your help!
Bob
