One PC for two separate Acorn Boards (mill and lathe)

Basically the title there.

About a year or two ago I converted a lathe over to CNC with an acorn board, bought the pro license and had it going. One divorce and a new place later, and I'm getting that lathe setup, and I've also converted a mill over to the acorn board (from another CNC board). I ...

Re: Extremely Odd, X moves half the distance despite identical settings.

X axis movement on a lathe represents changes in part diameter.

For example, if you want the tool to cut a diameter that is 20mm smaller, then you program an X position that is 20mm smaller, and the cross-slide moves 10mm towards centerline (therefore cutting 10mm per side, making the part 20mm ...

X moves half the distance despite identical settings. <resolved, Lathe is in diameter mode>

Hello!

So I have a new mini lathe that I have setup with centroid acorn.

I have the Z and X axis setup identically. But the X axis will move half the distance I tell it to via the MDI. If I say X-20 (mm) it will move 10, 10 will move 5 etc. Z axis, with exact same settings, will move the proper ...

Re: X not selected for WCS Error

Do you have a spindle encoder installed?

You appear to be trying to use feed-per-revolution feedrates (G99). That only works with a spindle encoder.

If you do not have a spindle encoder, then you need to program feed-per-minute feedrates (G98), and of course specify an appropriate feedrate ...

Re: X not selected for WCS Error

Ok, I've been able to overcome the error by going into F1 and setting the X and Z manually within Centroid. However now when I get to line 16 the machine says "moving" but it doesn't actually move anything? Any ideas?

X not selected for WCS Error

Hello all!

I'm trying to turn a very simple part I've designed in Fusion 360. But I keep running into Errors on the Centroid screen. This is the error I keep receiving:

Here is a screenshot of my setup screen:

Re: Help with Hooking up the Stepperonline DM556T Driver

Its very hard to do a schematic for every drive out there.
Rule of thumb, if the drive says use +5VDC for the +PUL and +Dir, then you should use the DB25.

Oh I know, the designs are probably limitless and always changing. I'm just a complete newbie so wasn't aware. But hopefully my post will ...

Re: Help with Hooking up the Stepperonline DM556T Driver

Thanks guys. I'll give that a shot. I'm curious though (and not doubting), but where does it say to only use the DB25 for steppers? I'm curious how I missed it.

Thanks!

If you look at the Acorn rev 4 schematics there are Leadshine example wiring diagrams in this file and your drive is a ...

Re: Help with Hooking up the Stepperonline DM556T Driver

You could try wiring the drive like this and see if it works:

+5VDC to +PUL (+5VDC on the Acorn power supply)
+5VDC to +DIR (+5VDC on the Acorn Power supply)
-PUL to ST1 on Acorn Header
-DIR to DR 1 on Acorn Header

Just a heads up, that absolutely worked. I've still went ahead and ...
