Soft Travel Limits Gone? (Resolved)
I booted up my 4x8 Centroid Acorn driven ShopBot last night after maybe 2 months of not using it, ran my homing sequence, and jogged the gantry on the long y-axis back to where it normally stops at the soft limit. To my surprise the gantry flew right past the limit location and slammed into my basem...

Re: Acorn + Clearpath success stories?
Here's my 4x8' success story. I was a complete novice with no prior CNC building experience with exception of some minor start/stop running operations at a previous job. I built the controller up adapting it to an existing machine platform, and though it was a lot to take on, the information is all ...

Re: Clearpath Enable Connections to Acorn
Look into the CNC4PC C86ACCP board to vastly simplify the enable signal management of Clearpaths with Acorn.

Re: npn sensor homing
If you're strapped for inputs you can test your NPNs for series connection. I was able to wire a standard NC Z momentary switch to 2 series NPNs on my mill application to utilize a single input. If you've got ample inputs, there's no reason to go through the extra headache to wire in series, and mos...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
The machine is up and running, and I did my first spoil board planing with great results over the weekend. I have a 0.5mm (0.02") out of mechanical square in my gantry which even after 3 adjustments of my gantry gussets I can't seem to land exactly dead nuts on square, I'm always over or under ...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
After a fair amount of trouble shooting, my machine is up and running enough to auto home. I'd like to find an auto home macro that approaches the limit switches at a quicker rate at first, then re-engages at a second slower pass to establish each axis home point. But I'm very happy with the progres...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
The video is an excellent intro 101 to sensors, thank you Marty. And Gary I will test my sensors in series now before moving forward. I did have a question regarding the use of end-of-travel triggers. The ShopBots are setup this way in both X and Y travel. Here's my question: https://i.imgur.com/sA9...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
Alright, tuning is done. I ran the X at 100% torque without issue. And made a Y-axis config after turning the X-axis with 110lbs of added weight (half the weight of my gantry). Now onto limit switches. I'm using the stock NPN proximity sensors from the ShopBot. It makes sense to me that these could ...

Re: Shopbot PRS 48x96 Acorn / Clearpath Conversion
Hey All - What Auto-tune torque did you guys start with for X tuning? I tuned Z with 100% torque and it was pretty violent. I'd like to dial it down for the gravity held axes.
