Re: Servo is cheeping very loud...
Its normal. My Panasonics do the same. Reducing the rigidity setting (P in PID) might reduce the sound however then there is less holding torque.

Re: Retrofitting Thor
Bit stuck. I cant get the A5 Minas Panasonics working. Its odd, they just hum and move slowly and dont respond. Must be a setting somewhere. The single A4 one is working well.

Re: lathe turret conversion help please
Ive got an Emco 320 which (there is a thread about it here) I burnt out the AC motor for the turret. Ive since put on a Servo motor and I have done the same where I basically reverse engineer the steps it needs to take for each tool position.

Re: lathe turret conversion help please
You will need to do some custom ATC M6 code. If the sensors are PNP then you either need to get Eth1616 card or find a way to convert them to NPN as Acorn cannot read PNP.

Re: Retrofitting Thor
I've managed to get the Y Axis working by removing the 2.2K resistors and that's fine.
The X and Z are Minas 5 drives, Y is Minas 4, they have slight differences. Both X and Z are only vibrating, moving very slowly, wont respond to a command. Ive programmed them Identically and both are doing it so ...

Re: Retrofitting Thor
Crikey, a CNC 3 axis oil rig anchor, looking forward to seeing this up and running with Acorn! 15m/min with that amount of weight/momentum, frightening! I thought the nearly 1 tonne table on my Bridgeport was a hefty lump to be hauling around on rubber 8M belts :o
Yep, the Spindle and ...

For some reason I read this thread last night. Do I understand the feature correctly ....?
I can take a machine which isnt 'perfect' and effectively tune each axis to make small live adjustments to ensure that each axis is as perfect as possible?
This is very interesting if so. I have a 2 ton DIY ...

You may have seen these before - but for the rest of us:
Interesting article on HSM site: https://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/forum/general/35426-audit-cnc-lathe-attachment
And one for sale up in Scotland. https://www.hibid.co.uk/Audit-CNC-Lathe-attachment/
