Re: Cincinnati Arrow 750 VMC Retrofit

Putting the Oak logic power supply behind the Oak is a perfectly reasonable installation; but do it so that the screw terminals are visible and accessible. I usually mount them so that the terminals stick out about 1/2", between H2 and H3. For much the same reason as Marc, I shortened the legs...

Re: Cincinnati Arrow 750 VMC Retrofit

Secondly, I ordered and received the Delta C2000 drive and PG01L card. I installed the encoder card into the drive following the Tech Bulletin 316. I went ahead and mounted the drive in the electrical cabinet in the similar location as the old spindle drive that came in the machine. I also was able ...

Re: Cincinnati Arrow 750 VMC Retrofit

Hey everyone, I know it's been a while since my last post. Life can get in the way, but since then, there have been several updates. First off I resolved my issue about the Y axis servo placement. I was doing the final measurements and design changes for my Y axis extension tube when I thought about...

Re: Help converting a older Techno cnc mill

Looks like a cool project you got there! You could reuse the DC servos if you wanted, but with the cost of hybrid steppers and AC servos is often the same cost or cheaper to replace them and will deliver better performance. If use did reuse them, I would recommend buying new DC drives to work with t...

Thank you! Perfect timing as I wanted to 3D print some stand offs for my Acorn.

Re: Corded MPG on an Acorn?

sure..its the axis selector switch that hogs up a bunch of inputs..so yes you can do it, is it practical? not really. AcornSix has three encoder ports so you can dedicate a hard wired MPG per axis on a lathe. Thanks for the response! Hmmm okay, that makes sense. I haven't counted all the inputs req...

Corded MPG on an Acorn?

Is it possible to use the encoder port on the Arcon and use a corded MPG? Or is the only option the wireless Centroid MPG?
Thanks!

Re: Stepper motor upgrade

I have good luck with buying Yaskawa servos and other brands from Alibaba. It's much more affordable than what is offered in the US. What size and kw servo are you interested in?

Re: Centroid Acorn and TB6600 Motor Drivers <answered>

I have been fighting this for a few days. I was using the screw terminals to try and drive the generic TB6600 stepper drivers and it just wouldn't work. By tapping into the DB25 it works great. I wish it was better documented. I have just wired TB6600 drivers on a router this week, if you still nee...

Re: 2x3 CNC Router Acorn Build

Most of those machine use a 5mm pitch rolled ballscrew. Try 5.08 for a starting spot on the turns/inch Math: 1" = 25.4mm 25.4 / 5 = 5.08 I'll try that out, thanks! I'm still kinda confused on the math... I thought I had to divide the travel requested (25.4mm) with the actual travel moved (20.3...
