Re: Show me your Custom VCP's!

>>"Just curious why one axis at a time." Totally valid question and to be honest I don't really have a great answer. I've noticed I use my X0 and Y0 buttons (as well as an XY0) one all at various times. Sometimes I'm just jogging back and forth to make sure a piece of stock is straight alo...

Re: Show me your Custom VCP's!

Just added two new zeroing buttons as I added a laser to my z axis which is not in-line with the spindle center. When I hit the Laser X 0 or Laser Y 0, it sets 0 with the offset of the laser (IE it sets zero at spindle center where the laser dot is). Kind of hack but the laser cost me like $15 and t...

Re: Cut Quality Issues with Clearpath Servo

I've never experienced this with my clearpath machine but I will say it does seem to be a mechanical issue or (related) a servo tuning issue. Not sure how you tuned your motors to begin with (what intensity level, what torque level, what range of movement, etc) but something is funny for sure. Have ...

Re: Clearpath & IPC5 vs everything else (for small mill)

I have 2 IPC-5's on my 4-drive CNC gantry machine (with 4 nema 34 Clearpaths). I almost always see people using one of them and I think in 99% of cases that is probably fine if you look at the odds that ALL drives would be pulling max power at any one time for long enough to starve the power supply....

Re: Why is the included power supply dual voltage? Do I need 5V?

the new recommend clear path servo wiring diagram recommends the drives be connected to the 5v rail with some resistors, not the 24v one. The current clearpath wiring diagram recommends using the CNC4PC daughter board, which handles all that. thread about running clearpath can be found here https:/...

Re: Why is the included power supply dual voltage? Do I need 5V?

It's pretty convenient for other 5v components. As an example , the new recommend clear path servo wiring diagram recommends the drives be connected to the 5v rail with some resistors, not the 24v one. That said , until that change was suggested, nothing in my system used 5v either.

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps (Resolved)

Glad it works! Worth noting, this sort of thing is part of why I love having the USB interface on the cleapaths. If you see the enable signal and commands coming through on the A and/or B inputs, your troubleshooting is very different from if the signals aren't even getting there.

Re: Clearpath SDSK not responding to steps

I know you mentioned you can move the servos using the software, but the other use of that software is you can see what signals the servo is getting.

Might be useful watching to see if the servos actually are getting enabled or not, etc.

Re: x axis travel exceeded

There is much to be learned about this on youtube alone. But generally : Machine coordinates are absolute and based on your actual machine home and limits. For most people this means 0,0,0 in some extreme "corner" of the box your machine is capable of reaching. Then, you have a whole other...
