Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.80 has been released. (8-12-22)
Thanks for the reply Chris. I found a plug in for Notepad++ that lets me compare the original PLC before and after the changes were made to make the turret work. It highlights the changes. Some are straight forward some are in blocks and a little confusing. My question is a lot of the edits are in ...

Re: CncPc dead
Whenever I have a computer that sits for a long time and something goes wrong I remove the ram and reinstall it. This will often fix starting issues. It's not unusual for a computer to appear frozen during an update. Seems to be especially true with my older computer that has a mechanical hard drive...

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.80 has been released. (8-12-22)
Atc mods to make a timer based turret work. They changed the relay logic so that one relay apples power and a second relay when powered off reveres the turret and when on drives the turret forward. Then some fault detection. Below is a cut and paste from an email Turret Outputs should turn off when ...

Re: Acorn CNC12 v4.80 has been released. (8-12-22)
Ok after a long delay I want to upgrade my lathe to version 4.8. I had Centroid do some custom modifications to the PLC. Is there any easy way to pick out the modifications they did to the PLC so I can move them to the new 4.80 version plc?

Re: Macro for Diamond Knurls
Very cool. You constantly amaze me with what you do on a lathe. Far more than I thought was possible.

Re: The AcornSix CNC controller kit has been released!
When the Acorn 6 first came out I thought I read somewhere that there is about a $1500 paperwork charge on top of the $999 license fee to export the software license to Canada. Is this no longer the case?

Re: Reasons for reverse spindle on a lathe.
Threading to a shoulder, back-side part-off, rigid tapping off the top of my head. Some people prefer left-hand boring tools so you can see the cut without leaning over the work. You are better off going with a 3-phase motor and a VFD. You get "instant" reverse without damaging the motor,...

Re: Reasons for reverse spindle on a lathe.
You need reverse for tapping, but no prob to just switch polarity, that worked on old production machines for years... Uwe My current spindle setup is a 180 VDC permanent magnet motor fitted with an encoder and a 1 way drive. Polarity can only be switched with the motor stopped. Can I do rigid tapp...
