Gecko 210 and Acorn. I F'd up again
So I'm trying to retrofit an old AHA with Acorn. 2 axis lathe. Instead of using the db25, I though I'd just use the headers on acorn. Everything fired up and then the lights on the Gecko 210's stopped illuminatinating. I never touched the stepper power supply and the only thing I did was connect the...

Re: Axis subtitution for rotary
If the axis of your rotary axis is parallel to X, it is referred to as the A axis. If it runs parallel to the y- it is the B axis. You set this extra axis up in the Wizard. So you will have four axes, X, Y, Z, and A. You'll note that the rotary speed will need to be a LOT higher than your linear sp...

Axis subtitution for rotary
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I have XYZA. I can create g code for rotary(wrapping) that uses x or y, but not A. My A is tuned in for degrees and is a 5 to 1 pulley. I can't assign A a Y letter. If I switch cables, this would throw everything off. I'm really frustrated right now because I ...

Re: encoder and motors
or install a new encoder that works with Acorn:-) That's the plan now. I was looking for a way to save a him a few hundred bucks. That being said, he already wasted 300 bucks on a 20 year old computer that would support an AHA card. His lathe has been down for a month now and it's part of his busin...

encoder and motors
So, my friend is asking me to build him a controller for an old lathe. I'm trying to save him as much as I can and use the exisitng parts as much as possible. His existing encoder is 5 wires, but all the Acorn encoders I've seen are 8 on a DB9. Is there a way to adapt? His motors are old powerpac Bi...

Re: DP 4 wiring
The DP-4 manual http://www.centroidcnc.com/downloads/dp4_probe_manual.pdf shows the wiring of the probe. Perhaps you can figure out your wire colors from where they connect on the probe's Lemo connector. I, for some reason, couldn't find that. I believe I can figure it out with what you provided. I...

Re: DP 4 wiring
I reached out to Centroid.... The wire was damaged, hence the new connector. A guy named Scott recommended that the wire shouldn't have been cut(200.00 for a new cable. I never had the bulkhead connector, so..another 150.00 for that?). When I asked for help regarding what colors go to the Acorn, his...
