I used Dyn4 750W motors. Once they were working they worked well. They had more more than enough power, would stall the spindle (2hp)

Obviously a more powerful machine but for reference the 750W D4 motors will pull the 2HP spindle on my bridgeport down to a stall

Sounds like power tapping on a bridgeport.... instead of using the bolt circle on the dro you're using the servos to move to position? Tap in a drill chuck will let it slip when it hits bottom. Youd need manual control of the spindle, the quill, and have to do a fake tool change or something after e...

X and Z are moving and spindle can be jogged on single phase. Havent figured the turret out yet. Im not sure if I can feed that motor with a small static phase converter, that would be easy to implement
