Anilam Eagle Knee Mill - Oakland CA
Well its been a haul for this old guy but now that the project is as done as I need it to be, here are some thoughts on the process as well as some images of the machine and my first stab at a wiring job. I learned so much! Machine: Anilam controlled Eagle Knee Mill 1996-ish with Baldor Brushed DC a...

Re: Omnitech / Anderson Router as Project?
Yes, I think it is a worthy machine too. The price was right for sure. It came with Becker blower and a large and hopefully functional spindle. The VFD started up without errors when we turned the machine on. Visual inspection revealed nothing of major concern to me and it has a the full complement ...

Re: Omnitech / Anderson Router as Project?
John, what part of the Country are you in? Marc is in the NW. You could retain him to consult with if you decide to do the leg work yourself. He could help with PLC programming etc. Just a thought. I think that is the direction we are headed in as I just heard from Siemens that the 810D is "Le...

Re: Omnitech / Anderson Router as Project?
@cncsnw Good to know that Centroid is a possibility minimally. It is a reasonable retrofit candidate. There does not appear to be anything there that cannot be controlled with a Centroid control. That's what I was thinking, complex but doable from all I've read here and elsewhere. It would be fairl...

Omnitech / Anderson Router as Project?
All, We picked up an old Omnitech / Anderson Selexx PAL CNC router and are looking at our option for bringing it back to life. It is a complicated machine that was driven by Siemens 810D controller and other peripheral Siemens equipment. It includes a tool changer for the primary Z axis, a multi spi...

Re: Encoder Differential Error
All, Primary XYZ encoders are all working now. Turns out that Mr. Dyslexia had wires crossed at both ends of the encoder cable. Advice to other nubes would be to double check your double check. I just got it wrong from the very start and repeated my errors across all three cables. I did have it all ...

Re: Encoder Differential Error
What I come up with: Encoder Color Code.JPG Solder drain wire to DB9 shell Marty, Good news! I checked your chart against my own information and it is spot on. I had the A and A/ wires reversed as well as the B and B/ reversed. I was able to rewire and test two encoders today and the Encoder Differ...

Re: Encoder Differential Error
If the motors are not hooked up, the E stop will trigger without showing "EStop", and your error message will be...wait for it...encoder diff error. When the machine tries to move the servos, it looks for an appropriate encoder movement in the correct direction. If there is no motion, or ...

Re: Encoder Differential Error
Gotta check tomorrow but it appears that I have the A and /A AND B and /B wire pairs inverted. - Swapping A with /A; - or swapping B with /B; - or swapping A with B and also /A with /B; ... will not cause differential errors. Doing any one of those things will simply reverse the plus/minus count di...
