Re: Upgrading Tormach PCNC 770 to Acorn
One of the Tormach machines has a very oddball stepper on the Y Axis that contains the thrust bearing for the ballscrew. I can't recall which model has that. They are actually putting Clearpaths on some of the new models.

Re: cnc mill broaching
Not a machinist so be gentle with me. I have a Bridgeport Series 1 with a Centroid retrofit. Love the machine and use it extensively but never had this requirement. I use Bridgeport software for most of my parts, Intercon for thread milling and boring. I need to broach a 3/16" wide keyway in a...

Re: Smoothing?
I've been having an issue with my machine that I thought was a rigidity problem but after making some changes to it I've found that it was not the source of the problem I'm having and I'm convinced it has something to do with a software setting of some sort. So here's the problem... When contouring...

I had downloaded this from your GitHub a week or so ago and can say it has been very helpful. I use and prefer VSCODE to most other editors and your work on this has been much appreciated.

Re: CNC PLASMA BUILD
So if you are not using SheetCam, are you plotting your parts with a cad system, saving the DXF, then manually entering your M3/5 points? Sorry to be redundant, just trying to get a better idea as to how you are going about things. I mostly trace bit maps of JPEG images, and will use SheetCam to ge...

Re: CNC PLASMA BUILD
I wonder if I can ask you where the plasma trigger is located in the G code you posted? How did you accomplish this with the Acorn board? My machine is a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101, and I have a built in trigger that the previous system used for firing the torch. Is this sequence done through S...

Re: CNC PLASMA BUILD
I really enjoyed your video's of your machine in motion. If you don't have THC on your machine, how do you program the correct arc distance, and how dod you set up the Z axis parameters? Are you using a floating head on the Z? Please let me know. I'm at the beginning stages of rebuilding my plasma ...

Re: Smoothing With Acorn or Fusion or Both
I use Fusion 360 for all my gcode, and utilize the smoothing option on all toolpaths, smoothing to .01mm. Acorn has its own Smoothing parameters, and I am using those as well, but not sure what I should be doing, so. So, should smoothing be done only using the option in fusion, or only using the op...
