Re: Threading problem lathe

Anyone heard anything about a answer on this problem ? i have been working on the analog signal issue ,had to buy a new scope to find the problem , Frijoli talked about using some ferrite beads in another thread so i bought some . That cable is a two wire shielded with a drain and the shield and dra...

Re: GHOST? Noise? Bad Luck? Could use some ideas..

Ok i will try and help 1.First check backlash on the Z axis i know you may have some but check it again ,use dial indicator run from highest point to lowest and see if it can repeat. Make sure you test with machine cold and then warmed up , if you find it try to eliminate it as much as you can . Mak...

by Gary Campbell » Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:20 am If it is small enough to attach, do that. In most cases they are too large to attach, so you will have to upload to YouTube or a fileshare site and link to the vide Thank you ,Gary i was lost as to what to do ,i posted it to the lathe threading problem p...

Re: Threading problem lathe

I discovered a nice little feature by accident on the Acorn board this morning while messing with the spindle ,it seems by pressing the jog button z or x - or + in incremental mode you can get the output voltage to go up or down on the Analog 0 to 10 volts to go up and down . :o What the hay!!!!!!!!...

Re: Threading problem lathe

I asked Michael from DMM about this and referenced this thread. I haven’t heard back from him yet which is unusual as he usually responds very quickly. I got a email this morning referencing this from Michael, he said they were going to try and work with Centroid , Acorn tech , and see if they coul...

Re: Threading problem lathe

I’m curious what motor and drive you’re using. I picked up a Dyn4 and motor and was told it would work with the Acorn for rigid tapping (for a mill) which, I assume, would have the same encoder requirements as what you’re doing. Hi ScotY, i bought the( 1.8 kw) motor the largest they sell ,and the m...

Re: Threading problem lathe

I understand it is the encoder on the DMM servo. But I thought DMM came up with a fix. CALL them and ask. Please report back after discussing with them. Marty Hi Marty , i have talked to them and every time i do i get a different answer , they changed the wiring again from the last design ,frankly ...

Re: Threading problem lathe / RESOLVED

The problem has been solved ,it was the encoder on the Dmm tech servo motor that would not work correctly with the Acorn board , reason your guess is as good as mine. I put in a 2500 pulse medium duty encoder shafted 1:1 on the spindle shaft , and Bob's your uncle we can thread now with no problem's...
