Re: Mill and lathe, one machine!
As I suggested. You should load CNC12 LATHE AND CNC12 Mill I would try and configure each as I suggested previously. If you had a wireless MPG that could allow you manual control..... Good luck on the project Marty I’ll have full manual control, two Cross slides, the original which will be locked d...

Re: Mill and lathe, one machine!
That will be some project. Off the top of my head. Load both CNC12 Mill and Lathe X is common to both mill and lathe on your machine. Z must be axis 1 on lathe and X axis 2 My first thought would be to Setup lathe conventionally Setup your "mill" with CNC12 Mill: Axis 4 will be Z Axis 2 w...

Mill and lathe, one machine!
Hi I just purchased the kit as well as mill and lathe pro but I’ve also been just recently told that I may have to rewire the axis each time I want to switch between mill and lathe. The gentleman that suggested it however was using the quill as the lathe chuck and feeding tools up while mine will be...

Re: Salvage cnc?
From what I can see, probably not. The rust on the machine, especially the ways really needs to be looked at. Rusted ways is NOT good. Precision and accuracy is affected. Had they covered it up or sold it when they took it out of service then possibly. You could go over there with some WD40 and a m...

Salvage cnc?
Guys, you know more than me. I stumbled upon this machine sitting outside rusting away. Shop said it’s fried. Has a new motor controller and I believe 8kw servo spindle motor. I can’t tell you any more than that but if any of you recognize it, can you give me your opinion on wether the motors and dr...

More newbie questions
Please don’t hate me, I have a few more questions. I’m looking at oak likely but I see most of what I need in acorn, just not sure about a few things. Cah acorn run dual encoder hand wheels as well as a spindle encoder? Does acorn conversational support gang tooling? How do I size clear path motors ...

Re: Newbie
Dave_C Here: I did convert both a Manual Lathe and a Manual Mill, both of which turned out very well, but it takes a lot of time to draw out and make all the parts you need to make a machine that will hold decent tolerances! There is no "Best" brand of ball screws or even the best price! ...

Re: Newbie
Making a "Universal" machine seems quite ambitious to me. You might want rethink that. If you are farming out "tens of thousands of dollars" then you probably need a bigger space and purpose built machines. I'm thinking the time and money invested in such a machine could be bett...

Re: Newbie
Hey Thanks! yes I’m sure I want to convert a machine. The physical aspect of the conversion is in my wheel house, the software and electronic aspect I’ll need help with. I manufacture a vehicle track system and farm out most of my machining to a cnc shop which cost 10’s of thousands of dollars each ...
