Has anybody changed removed the mechanical speed control from Interact 1 and put 1-1 pullet with VFD in it's place?
I planned to do this and keep the hi-lo gearbox to maintain torque at lower speeds. I will use the 0-10v signal from All In 1 DC to programme speed.
Could the centroid be programmed ...

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
I used the Centroid sold encoders to update the SEM motors on my Bridgeport EZ=Path lathe. The encoder swap was straight forward. I used the Allin1DC to drive the motors and again, setup was a breeze. As Marty mentioned, keep the transformer and rectifier assembly. It keeps your cost down and less ...

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
One last suggestion. Take a video of the machine running, cutting a part, show the motors and control cabinet while operating. Then post it to YouTube. You can then sell all your boards and servo drives on eBay and likely put a good dent in funding the purchase of AllninOne!
Great idea, I was ...

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
For encoders you need 5vdc line driver/differential encoders. If it's running now and you can run the motors to listen to them for condition great. Save your pennies. The Centroid control will make a world of difference provided you have the basic skills and can follow a wiring diagram. My video ...

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
No to OAK for these.
Strong possibility for All in One DC. You would likely have to replace the encoders. Keith provided a link to that.
Before you went much further with a good Digital Multimeter, test the motors per this tech bulletin:

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
Hi Marty,
Well I have the machine now and still debating which way to go. I'm wondering if I can use existing servo drives also and just use brain of something like the oak board?
I like the idea of having the drives separate to the main board. This will also reduce cost.

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
Hello All,
I am about to collect a Bridgeport Interact 1 Mk2 (I think these may be similar to what you call Boss in the US). The control is old and unreliable but lovely mechanically. I am looking at either Mach 4 or Centroid conversion but seems the Centroid may be a better solution.
I am ...

Re: Centroid AllInOne DC with Bridgeport Interact 1
Thanks Keith,
That looks very helpful, I will go take a look. I don’t have the machine yet as it’s reserved but not delivered yet.
Soon as I have it I will do as you say, so I can be more specific.
Cheers,
Colin
