Re: Post Processor Sheet Cam/Fusion 360

Joey, I use the Fusion PP which is very basic. I want to mark (center punch) small holes which the Fusion post doesn't do. Does the Sheet Cam post have support for marking and possibly feed reduction for small holes? Other features not in the Fusion post? I use the Fusion post because I use Fusion 3...

Re: Material Profiles

I plan to purchase the THC when I get the mechanics of the machine dialed in. The X-axis upgrade really helped but I would like to replace the bearing carriages on the Y-Axis with linear rails. My NEMA 23 motors with the 5:1 gearboxes seem to be working well. But maybe I need larger pinion gears. I ...

Re: Material Profiles

I ran the new set of test today. I think all the cuts were much better in the curves. There is still more dross than I think there should be on most of them. They are all with 3200 steps/rev and .2 Accel/Decel and smoothing on. I also set pierce delay to zero. It looks like the pierce is ready to go...

Re: Material Profiles

I upped the steps / rev to 3600 and the accel/Decell to 0.2 and did dry runs up to 230 IPM with smoothing on. Motion looked really smooth going into the curves. Then it started raining so I had to move the table back into the garage before doing any cuts. Hopefully, I can run the full set of test to...

Re: Material Profiles

Here is a link to the cut test I ran yesterday. I started with the default Powermax 45XP 10ga mild steel profile (without smoothing) at 129 IPM. I did 6 test cuts increasing the feed rate by 20 IPM for each test (129, 150, 170, 190, 210, and 230). Then I repeated the 6 test decreasing the feed rate ...

Re: Material Profiles

Thanks Joey. I will upload a new report after I get out to the shop today. I got the Accel/Decell rate down to .3 now but have not tried lower yet.

Material Profiles

I understand that Material Profiles is one of the many features of the Acorn Plasma controller. I use the Fusion 360 post from Centroid and can see that all of the feed values have been removed. When cutting with a Hypertherm 45XP 10ga mild steel profile I see that straight line cuts go at the profi...

Re: DIY Table Upgrades

Joey, You mentioned in a previous post that my resolution was really low. My drive will do 1/16 micro stepping but I haven't tried it yet. By my calculation my resolution should be 0.0004" per step. Am I calculation it correctly? McMaster 6325K13 pinion gear(PD=1.00) Gearbox 5:1 (inches / rev) ...

Re: DIY Table Upgrades

Hi Joey,

I am using a HobbyCNC 4 axis drive. I may be able to up the counts / rev up some but I will probability replace the drives though. I am trying to get the mechanics upgraded so I can get the Acorn THC.
