Re: Plasma Cabinet Layout Questions
So, doing the math a 1200 watt, 65 volt power supply is capable of 18.46 amps at full load. That leaves 1.5 amps for everything else. I know you probably will never draw full load but a 20A breaker for the entire cabinet, including all the other devices is too small in my opinion. You running 120 or...

Re: Plasma Cabinet Layout Questions
What’s the NEMA17 drive for? Don’t say the Z axis. The Z axis in a plasma build needs to be fast and “snappy” if you are gonna have a THC.

Re: Plasma Cabinet Layout Questions
Layout looks fine, just make sure you have a good ground bus somewhere and ground EVERYTHING to this bus. Grounding is critical in a plasma build. I’m guessing a 20A breaker is not sufficient for everything but you don’t list and details for your components. You have 4 stepper drives and the toroida...

Re: Clearpath wiring clarification - Follow up question
Is there any reason I cannot run the individual ENABLE signals to the drives separately rather than combining them thru a NC ESTOP switch. I already have an ESTOP circuit that disconnects the raw DC power from the drives. No reason at all. I wire my Clearpath enables directly to the Acorn and like ...

Shame? On this forum for using a laptop? Really? You've got to be kidding.

That NUC does use a laptop CPU, just sayin'

Re: Acorn CNC board connection
I'd ask you to please stop watching 5+ year old YouTube videos and use the Centroid provided wiring schematics that are CURRENT and UP TO DTAE. Those drives are Leadshine clones and use 5V from the DB25. The Acorn can drive 4 motors but you can hardware pair drives to the Acorn if you have dual driv...

Re: File Sharing Between Acorn and PC
You could also use a NAS ( Network Attached Storage ) for both PC's to access files on. TrueNAS is free and can be installed in an old PC if you have one lying around. Then you just set up access rights for each user and appears as a networked drive on your computer. As far as Wi-Fi, your wi-fi rou...

Re: error message on wizard configuration
So export the current, working configuration XML file to a folder on your pc. This will be your master backup file. Now make a copy of it and rename it as your secondary config file and use this one to make any changes to for testing. Just be sure once you are happy with the secondary config file to...

Re: File Sharing Between Acorn and PC
Thans so much! I can connect it to the internet in a moment and share files easily. Am I confusing something. I thought I read that it should NOT be connected to the internet so there are no background tasks that interfere with CNC12? I believe I also read to turn off Windows updates. If I keep it ...

Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
I know nothing about Gecko drives but I looked at the manual briefly. Did you determine the optimal encoder counts per the manual? Did you set the drive gain appropriately for your system? Did you adjust the P, I and D trim pots per the manual for optimal motor tuning? There seems to be a lot of set...
