Re: No motor movement

When you start missing steps or get no motor movement one day you'll understand why CENTROID, the manufacturer of the controller, tells you to wire 5V STEPPER drives to the DB25. Good luck. You've been warned.....twice. :D

Re: Please help with ATC issue after spindle and VFD upgrade

I cant believe that an ATC spindle does not have signal/sensors for collet open and tool in holder. How else would the software know if an actual tool change took place or took place correctly? Can you post a manual for this spindle? I don't even see that model on their website. It should have temp ...

Re: No motor movement

Why would it be any different? Because they are both different types of outputs to drive different types of motors. Do they work connected to the Acorn headers? Nope. Why you ask? Because those are 5v stepper drives that are to be wired to the DB25. As noted all over this forum, stepper drives are w...

Re: ENA1

What's that? Just kidding, you have to experiment with the counterbalance for sure to get it right. The counter balance will certainly work. With your pulleys and cables you can easily determine the amount of force or weight you need to balance it. Once you calculate it with dead weight you ca...

Re: ENA1

I would certainly wonder about why the builder chose that motor. The Clearpath motors are AWESOME when you spec out the correct motor size for the loads and speeds. I just Googled the part number for your mill and it looks a lot like a Grizzly G0704 I used to have. Can you add a 5:1 or 10:1 gearbox ...

Re: acorn to ahha!

Not sure what kind of machine this is but it's simply not worth saving those drives and motors. They are just too old and no longer efficient or even supported by anyone. Drives and motors are so cheap these days and they have modern electronics and feature you'll never have on those old drives. You...

Re: ENA1

Thanks for the info. That tells me whoever built it didn't do their homework. I know many people whom I've retrofit machine for just hop on Amazon, find a drive/motor combo that looks nice and say to themselves "hmmm, that should work" and they end up with machines plagued with issues and ...

Re: ENA1

It tells you you over torqued the motor on one of your pics. I assume you got 4 yellow blinks on the motor when this happened? Did you consult with Teknic on your machine, gantry weights, z axis weights and other info before you selected the motor you have or did you just randomly pic a motor thinki...

Re: Acorn Auto Measure Macro

There are several ways to set the Z reference and it depends on the machine, how you home it, how accurate it is or if you just use a reference tool. Keith did a video many. many years ago on this subject using the tool offset library and typical setup for a router. I dont know if it'll be helpful o...
