New Router Finished with a tip and a possible bug

Hi all, This is my second machine, and it started up easily. It needs some side panels, dust shoe, etc., but everything works. I'll post in the Success Stories once I have a video of it cutting along with more detailed pictures also, but here is what it looks like- 20220305_114802.jpg 20220306_10443...

Re: Quencharc substitute?

Thanks for the replies. I see that the ideal value can be calculated based upon the use, so I assume that the recommended one is a good compromise. I just don't know how much a little variation matters without taking the time to research more. I learned years ago to put a MOV across relay coils, and...

Quencharc substitute?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if a .22uF 100 ohm, 400 volt snubber would work.

Re: Lathe Homing to Index Pulse

Hey it works, thanks for getting it figured out Marty. Here is how I did mine- I have DC servo motors with AMT 102 encoders. They are capacitive, and can only source 2mA current at 5V. AMT Encoder.jpg The servo drives don't use the Index pulse, so it was available to home to. I ran the index lines s...

Re: Gantry Squaring

Hey Rob, I'm no expert here but it sounds like cnckeith may have misunderstood your question, but maybe not. It doesn't sound like the problem has anything to do with gantry squaring since you said the two screws are tied together and can't get out of sync. I don't understand the setup with two moto...

Re: Lathe Homing to Index Pulse

Okay I found it, "Emcoturn 120 Using DMM DYN2 ZRI & Centroid ACORN for Accurate homing" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1xUtRwN6T0 I thought that M91 and M92 made motion stop after clearing the limit swtch. I guess it just waits until the switch clears to go on to the next line, and t...

Re: Lathe Homing to Index Pulse

If I recall Marty has a video on how he did similar. Might be worth looking for that vid on Youtube. Thanks but If so it must be in a video without a related keyword that allow me to find it in a search. I'm pretty sure I've watched all the videos linked from the website and in the "Acorn CNC ...

Lathe Homing to Index Pulse

I have searched and searched, so this must be so obvious to find that nobody talks about it. So far I have been homing to limit switches set up in the wizzard, but would like to try homing to index pulses on my servo encoders. I see in the configuration where to set "Machine home at pwrup"...

That one is 50V, but I would think anything over 10 would work. I got 50 of them on amazon for $2.
