Re: Acorn Six and Hickory
Until you provide information/details about your build, we are just guessing at what you have. There are many types of 'Milling machines" We can not "SEE" what you "SEE" Start a new thread with details about your build. Define what you mean by "delay times" Provid...

Re: Acorn Six and Hickory
In my migration to centroid, if there is something I would have liked, it is that they would have made a board with more inputs and outputs, with better delay times. On a milling machine, 8 inputs and 8 outputs is far not enough. If there are 3 or 4 axes, the emergency fault inputs of the motor driv...

Re: Acorn Expansion
I'd do the following: Two relay outputs: ATTN_REQ, INDEX_REQ Two inputs: ATTN_ACK, INDEX_ACK The micro implements a standalone ATC subsystem -- you already envision that, but here's a protocol suggestion: The micro waits for an attention request, acknowledges the request, then it counts index reque...

Re: Acorn Expansion
this can be done several ways. one way is to use a stepper drive that can be control with an input to turn it on/off cw/cww that way the Acorn PLC can command the drive to turn on/off cw/ccw etc. this way the atc stepper acts like a normal atc motor as far as Acorn is concerned. how send signals to...

Re: Acorn Expansion
You would need the 1616 Acorn Expansion board. Then you could send the tool number in binary. Tool 5 would be 00101. You could use just 4 bits if you have 8 tools, but you'll need five outputs for 12 tools. You'd need another output to tell the tool changer (Arduino) to start a tool change. The Ard...

Re: Acorn Expansion
Since the toolchanger stepper only needs to move to discrete positions, I'd control it with an Arduino. hello, can you tell me how to connect between acorn and an arduino board? How do I send for example the number 5 (tool position) from acorn to arduino, if I have only digital outputs (not analog)...

Re: Acorn Expansion
atc's usually do not require another axis motor. post photos of your machine for advice on the cnc gear that you would need to run it. This is my milling machine is a SYIL X7 https://i.ibb.co/hfRjG2T/Captura-de-pantalla-2021-10-28-18-06-01.png have 4 axis (with servo motors), initially have a XHC-M...
