Waterjet CAM software

Does anyone have suggestions or preferences for CAD/CAM software to generate CNC code for a waterjet cutter? Our customer previously used the native software from Flow to read DXF files into the machine and get toolpaths they could run. With the Centroid control on the machine, they will need a diff...

Re: Actualizacion EMCO VCM 300

Those messages are generated internally by CNC12; not by the PLC program. Assuming that you have Parameter 18 set correctly, then this would be a bug in CNC12, which Centroid needs to fix. Please post a current Report, so they can test and reproduce the problem. CNC12 should not report a probe-tripp...

Re: Can Vectric's "Output direct to machine" work with CNC12?

Are you running Aspire on the same computer that runs the machine with CNC12? Or are they on separate computers? If separate computers, do you have a local area network connection with one or more shared folders? When you used this feature with Mach3, were they running on the same computer? Or two c...

Re: Rigid Tapping - Thread Question

I am not a machinist, so I am sure others here will have ideas better grounded in reality. But my take is: 1) In tapping (as opposed to thread milling or lathe threading) the fit is determined almost entirely by the size and shape of the tap. 2) You might get a slightly looser fit if you tap each ho...

Re: Setting up tools on a lathe

There are, of course, many machines with built-in tool setter arms.

On those machines, the tool setter is not on the spindle centerline.

Therefore, an off-center tool setter is a normal condition that the software should be written to handle.

Re: Actualizacion EMCO VCM 300

For the probe-detect signal, connect pin 2 or 3 (the 12V COM) to pin 9 (INP771) of the Oak PROBE header. With the probe-trip signal on pin 8 (INP769) and the probe-detect signal on pin 9 (INP771), you would set: - Parameter 11 = 50769 - Parameter 18 = 50771 Those are the default values for those par...

Re: Actualizacion EMCO VCM 300

Yes, you can connect a probe via the MI8 interface to the Centroid control. If you want to use the "PROBE" header on the Oak, then you would wire the B6 and B7 terminals to pins 3 and 8 of the Oak PROBE header. If you want to use ordinary PLC inputs (e.g. any of INP13-INP16 on the Oak) the...

Re: ENA +/- on G0678

I believe there is a bug in Acorn CNC12 v5.10 (and maybe earlier versions as well; I only had the opportunity to observe v5.10), by which inverting the enable outputs does not work. Whether inverted or not, the enable outputs are active (LED green, header terminal pulled low) when the axis is suppos...
