You would have to wire the MPG encoder to one of the Hickory's 9-pin encoder inputs; then wire the axis-select and increment-select switches to discrete PLC inputs (using up between 6 and 9 of the 32 PLC inputs on the Hickory board). You would also need to wire one relay output for the MPG LED.

Re: Acorn suddenly stopped homing
"457 ... unable to find home" is often because the control thinks that a touch probe is triggered.
You might want to review your probe, tool setter, and touch plate configuration, and the state of the associated inputs.

Re: Using spindle encoder as DRO
1) The scales menu is for secondary feedback to a servo-controlled axis, to make corrections to the commanded position.
2) I looked at Parameters 35 and 312 in a sample Acorn lathe report.
3) No. The description in the manual for P423 is misleading. It only applies to secondary feedback (per the ...

While I like and recommend Yaskawa VFDs, I would probably choose a new Automation Direct GS23 over a used Yaskawa from eBay or Facebook.

Re: Random E-Stop with CNC12 / Avid CNC with stepper motors
I'm guessing I need to use PLC Detective the next time the fault state is happening and look at all these things that set SV_STOP:
IF !EStopOk_M || PLCFault_M || SV_STALL_ERROR || SpindleFault_M || LubeFault_M ||
AxisFault_M || ProbeFault_M || OtherFault_M || DoorShutDownStop_M || THCError_M
THEN ...

Re: BORING QUESTION
Yes, that would be an ID turning operation. The F7/Turn cycle is implicitly ID if you enter a Starting Diameter that is smaller than the Ending Diameter.

Re: power to drives , whats needed
Your servo drive manual, or the data plate on the side of each drive, should specify the input current rating.
A 1kW servo drive running on 220V 3-phase power will probably draw somewhere around 6A at its continuous rated output.
Current draw on single-phase power will be somewhat higher.

The green LEDs (UV, USV and DF) will tell you a lot more about what might be going on.
Pay careful attention to what happens (or does not happen) when you press, and then release, your emergency stop button.

Re: Using spindle encoder as DRO
You do not need an Ultimate license to set up a scale for manual-axis feedback.
Manual axes are not set up on the "Scales" menu.
You just label an axis 'M' or '@' on the Machine Configuration -> Motor Parameters table.
Supposing that you make axis #4 your manual axis: then you would label axis #4 ...

Re: Current rating of 12 v supply on probe connector of Allin1DC
For what it's worth, the 12V output of the MeanWell RQ-65D that typically powers an Allin1DC unit is rated 1.5A.
You should be fine drawing 75mA in any case.
