Re: Unknown cause of axis drive fault

Try changing Pn202 from 4 to 2. I think TB295 was written with SGMGH motors and 17-bit encoders in mind.

Re: Jog button in VCP sticks on

Keith,

Aside from the location of the feedrate override percentage (W31 vs. W4) and the location of the ResetSet indicator (OUT1107 vs. SV_SKIN_EVENT_55), in what ways is the PLC program required to be different for VCP 2.0 vs. VCP 1.0?

Re: Unknown cause of axis drive fault

What is the full part number of your servo motors?

Some lower-budget installations used motors with 13-bit encoders. In that case you will not be able to get more than 8192 counts/rev, and will have to set the Centroid parameters accordingly (change 32768 to 8192).

Re: Unknown cause of axis drive fault

Go to the PID Configuration screen and watch the live data (Error and Abs Pos in particular) while you jog various axes in INCR mode. That will tell you whether there is a mismatch between the encoder counts out and the step commands in. Jogging incrementally on the x1 increment will also give you a...

Re: Upgrading 1984 Wells Index 820 with Allin1DC

Yes, the 5V from an old PC power supply would suffice for testing encoders. Note that if you put your meter's test leads from, for example, A to /A (instead of from A or /A to COM) then you can more quickly verify that you always have a differential voltage. The meter should read either positive thr...

Re: Long hand programming g code at the control?

If you don't want to use Alt-Tab, then just press F6/Edit. That will open the currently-loaded G code program in your chosen text editor. Then you can choose File -> New and start a new, blank program, or choose File -> Save As if you want to use the existing G code file as a starting point for your...

Re: DXF Requirements??

I opened his DXF file in a text editor, and in Visual CADD. It does contain circles, not polygons.

Did you remember to wire 24VDC to Oak H2 pins 1 and 2?

Re: G-Code Question: Tool Change without Operator Confirmation (lathe)

The T code is a 4-digit number. The first two digits are the tool number (tool location); and the second two digits are the offsets to use. The control will "run a tool change" (e.g. prompt the operator) any time the first two digits change. So the simplest way to run without tool-change p...

Re: New Oak Install

How would I do +/-10v from the Oak though? With a Centroid factory PLC program, you use output forcing on the Alt-i screen to force OUT15 and OUT16 on. However, not all factory programs have the necessary calculations in the spindle speed section. With my PLC programs, you add 4 to Parameter 178 (i...
