Does it make the 8khz cheep if you decouple the ball screw, but leave the servo mounted on the lathe?
Have you tried swapping the servos to confirm they both cheep when in the same situation?

Re: Centroid CNC Software Licensing Upgrade Announcement
I'm happy to see Centroid is not going to a subscription model. It would seem like an odd choice for a CNC controller. Sure companies can get away with it for CAD or CAM software, but I'm unaware of any CNC controller companies doing that. Subscription models for specific hardware based systems tend ...

Re: Visually Impaired And Using The Acorn Control System
On the CNC12 side (blue background, left side of the screen) nearly everything is done with the keyboard.
On the Virtual Control Panel (VCP) (buttons on gray background, right side of screen) there are no keyboard equivalents, but a touch screen works well.
If you have minimal vision, and you do ...

Re: Servo is cheeping very loud...
Since this is only happening when standing still, you could try messing with the ZEROSPD setting and reducing holding current. If the drive is dithering at idle, that might help.

Re: Servo is cheeping very loud...
I think leadshine uses motion studio, so grab the motion studio manual and start reading up on resonance tunning. There should be an automated tool in motion studio for this, but you might have to tweak manually.

Centroid Oak glass scales
My work is looking into purchasing an ATrump AV32 with centroid oak control. The machine does not come with glass scales, so we are thinking about having them added for closed loop feedback for motion control (not just DRO readout) after we have the machine in house.

Re: Bridgeport Interact power drawbar and toolholder question
You could try contacting a spindle rebuilder who might be willing to you in the right direction. A quick google came up with a few companies that do rebuilds on Bridgeport spindles. I imagine they would be the ones in the know on something this specific. Might even be able to sell you the parts you ...

Re: Bridgeport Interact power drawbar and toolholder question
If you have a Bellville stack, like you figured out, its a petal or ball bearing/pull stud arrangement. The only other changer I have seen that is not a BT/CAT/HSK, but still uses a Bellville stack is the tormach setup where it uses a R8 collet as a gripper.

Re: Acorn or Hickory for first time CNC retrofit ?
The other guys here know way more then I do about the centroid controllers, but my understanding is that Hickory and Oak (and Acorn6 I think?) are proper closed loop controller. You can use scales and have realtime position feedback. The regular 4 axis Acorn relies on the servo/drive to do exactly ...
