Re: AXYZ 4008 with tool change carousel...need some advice

Gary, not sure what you mean by that. Can you clarify? I will say it real slow: Use.....the.....DB25 The real answer is that the headers provide an open collector signal 5v or 24v and the DB25 provides a line driver signal. The vast majority of inexpensive drives, especially the older ones will onl...

And now you know why people have issues with many stepper drives, especially many legacy models.

Re: 3 AXIS Control Board (Complete)

Gary, quick question as I research and try to learn. When you recommend 350-450 oz-in I was taking that as at the motor and then affected by the gearbox, but is that torque at the gearbox output? Gearbox output shaft torque is motor torque X reduction. So, for example: 400 ozin motor X 5:1 reductio...

Re: Using H6 Output 2 for PWM to control Clearpath Servo

At first I connected the servo as a fourth axis and realized it wasn't going to work that way.
Why not? Set as linear axis. "W" would be my preference. Use the 4th axis jog arrows to move the table. If there is a way to home that motion, you should have/calculate actual position

Re: 3 AXIS Control Board (Complete)

Not very likely, as they are designed for low amperage, high inductance motors. Modern motors are higher amperage and low inductance.
You will have to choose between cheap or versatile.

Re: zero plate on old shopbot, wiring question...

Using an ohm meter or continuity tester check which wire is connected to the plate. My guess is black. Check which wire is connected to the ground clip, should be green. The last wire, red, is not used. Plate (black) connects to the input terminal set as tool touch triggered. If clip is used, connec...

Dan, et al...
If you can wait a couple weeks I will have an Acorn controller that has drives that are compatible with those high inductance dinosaur motors. Prices for the bare bones units start under $1700

Re: 3 AXIS Control Board (Complete)

Like I said, do not run steppers without reduction.

Yes, you have 200 step per rev (native on the motor) times 3.6 = 720 steps per output shaft revolution

Re: Clearpath MCVC Spindle Motor Control - Help Requested

Add the 0.1 microfarad 50v capacitor and the creep usually disappears.
