Re: Is an oscilloscope necessary?
For sure there are numerous reasons on both sides whether or not a DIY builder should own a scope. My guess is that unless you are going to do a number of them, probably not. That said, one thing that totally surprises me is how many guys take on a control box or upgrade project that don't own, or e...

Re: Lost steps newly upgraded machine <clearpath, resistors>
.Centroid is going to test the C86ACCP with a long cable
Hopefully they will test with a short one too. I had a couple lathes that showed the error and they had cables under 10'

Re: Lost steps newly upgraded machine <clearpath, resistors>
But have they tested it? Always be aware of engineers that use the word "should"Teknic Engineers reviewed the C86ACCP schematic and said it should work.

Clay... Agree with your observations, as they have been posted here and other forums previously My anecdotal experience (thru a few customers translations) has been similar, but my testing order was different I do not, however, agree with your surmised conclusions. Points of disagreement are as foll...

Wouldn't this be most beneficial to the product supplier? To ensure that their product is properly mounted and doesn't break with normal useWould be nice if one of are users proficient with CAD and 3D printing could design and make some brackets for it.

Re: Acorn + Clearpath success stories?
Is it possible that the actual outputs from acorn are being effected due to noise in the cabinet? Possibly in a way that only clearpath servos are sensitive to? Here is the way that it goes:. The motor mfgr, the control mfgr, and the control mfgr all assume and profess that nothing is wrong with th...

Re: Acorn + Clearpath success stories?
When shipped, due to using <10 cables, these machines did not have the resistors, or for that matter, any issues. The error did creep in after a number of months. Resistors and an EMI filter on the VFD power seems to have solved the issue. That said, I am curious as to the actual cause, especially a...

Re: Acorn + Clearpath success stories?
The ClearPath motor inputs are optically isolated and current limited. This design provides exceptional noise immunity even in the most difficult EMI environments like plasma CNC machines and applications that use a VFD. I have 2 instances in the field where the "Step Input Timing Error" ...

Please note, that like some others, I am a bit hesitant to use these boards until a proper solution to secure them is in hand.
