Hi everyone,
I started a CNC build 3 years ago and am finally able to resume. I am feeling like I want some professional advice on how best to proceed. I have the table frame built and have Centroid Acorn and DMM AC Servos. Can anyone recommend someone who I could pay to discuss this build with? I ...

Looking for guidance
Hi there again.
I've been away for a while. Last winter I had been working on building a mechmate from scratch. I had the base frame built and had begun getting the controls setup ( just desktop as Marty and others recommended). I had purchased DMM servos and an acorn controller.

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
Hi guys,
I have a question regarding some of the components in the dmm schematic for dyn4 power supply. Is it normal to have each drive get two EMI filters? Ill have 5 drives so there will be 10 EMI filters in my cabinet. Ive yet to see another cabinet with more than one.

Good advice Richards, Thank you. By the way I see you are over in the mechmate forum as well. Just put 2 and 2 together on that!

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
I have successfully bench tested each motor/ drive individually . My plan now is to continue bench testing the system as a whole.
Im assuming that any axis can go in any st, dr, en location as long as its accounted for in the configuration within the wizard.
I also have images of my current wiring ...

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
Thanks guys, very much appreciated! I order the din rail mount ones.
Also I have movement of out my motors! The humming noise was actually my speaker which must have been picking up some frequency when i plugged the drive power on.

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
You'll have to keep in mind that i have never wired anything ever before this. What i am wondering is literally how do i accomplish the wired described in the branched areas. What type of connectors/ connections do I use.

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
Another question, hopefully the last for today. What is the best way to branch the areas circled in pink from the dmm power supply schematic?

Re: DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
Thanks for the advice Mike. I appreciate it.
I believe I am ready to bench test the acorn and dyn 4. I attached some images of my setup. I followed a couple of Martys videos. I used an old extension cord to provide power to the drives. Which is only 110. I have all the components for the entire ...

DIY cnc router with Acorn and Dyn 4
Ill start my proper build thread here
Building a 4.5 x 9' mechmate router. Mainly used to cut wood. Will use linear rails instead of the normal v bearings. I have the base table made. Now working on the electrical components.
I have no experience in wiring/ electrical but really want to learn. I ...
