One thing not mentioned while using modified flank infeed is if you cut on the right flank as shown, your chips will curl towards the left. If you are using the part setup routines, zero is set automatically (display will show 1/2 the probe value for X and Y and 0 only on Z). If you are using probe cycles (which it appears), then the part position in the current WCS is reported.

If you hardwire your machine, then it does not have to be on a GFCI circuit.

There's probably no need to run 100 lines of parameter checking code at every tool change. Normally, once you have your tool setter and probe set up, you never change that again.

You can use any tool to set your WCS Z0 as long as you ALSO have that tool's height offset active as well. If you just load the tool and not the offset, or you don't load the tool at all, then your part offset will be wrong.

You can select the direction for the measurement points, but the rotation symbol will always appear on the X DRO.
