Span and slope adjustments are normally in the VFD.

You CAN use the Z-axis scale for feedback. You just need the Mill Ultimate software. You will get duplicate encoder messages when you exit machine setup, but you can ignore those.

Actually, they can transmit significantly more Hp for the same mass. I've added idlers in the middle of my long belt span on my lathe to control whip. Same principle as a tensioner.

When I changed from a double-v to J-section belt the noise was CONSIDERABLY less.

This is the cable that I use - "Servomotor Continuous-Flex Cable" It's gone up a little - 14Ga is now $7/ft, and 10Ga is up to $12.45/ft but still worth it.
