Re: Probing gets interrupted sometimes

Your power wiring between the drivers and motors needs to be shielded. You step and direction wiring between the Acorn and the motor drives should also be shielded.

Re: Z axis not consistent (missing steps?)

For example (and some data to help maybe?). First cut the hole is .155 deep (which I know is not actually 1/4 inch, but I'm not concerned about that yet). Second cut (again, changing nothing, simply hitting run again after the program completes), and the hole is now .219 deep. Run it again, and the...

Re: Z Axis Counter weight. How much weight??

I actually prefer an air cylinder over gas struts. The force is adjustable and more importantly, constant, over the entire range of motion.

I'm assuming you've looked at the two previous threads where this has happened?

Re: Lathe tool probe

Look at the TT-2 brochure - it shows the probe mounted in a lathe with the lathe anvil mounted. KP-3 is similar. Lathe and mill applications only differ in the "end effector". Lathe gets a circular anvil; mill gets a ball tip.

Re: Servo/Encoder on Fourth Axis

...encoder to be wildly out of calibration. Not sure what you mean by this. Encoders are not calibrated. They have a set number of lines and therefore pulses per revolution. Is it possible the new encoder was an upgraded version with more resolution than the previous one? If so, just go to setup/co...

Re: Gerber AR600 Retrofit

The two sets of unshielded wires you mention are the biggest generators of EMI in the system. The servo drives and the spindle VFD send high current and high frequency pulses to the motors - just the thing to generate noisd in other wires. These drive cables must be shielded.
