Yeah, I would put limit switches on the machine. Not worth the risk of destroying a ballscrew.

You can still get that motherboard. Look on Ebay. Replacing with the same motherboard could possibly save a lot of grief trying to get Windows 7 running.

I have been happy with the Hitachi VFD's on multiple machines. Get one that takes single phase input.

There are other brands that will work fine. The Hitachi units have been in short supply in the last few years.

Looks like it is busting out into oscillation. Try tuning the axis.

Hard to believe that you spend the big money on the console and get the starter software. The Pro is what you want. The starter software is just a tease.

Re: 1997 Bridgeport Romi CNC flat bed lathe Easy Path S

I've never tried it before, but couldn't you run a 7.5Hp motor with a 5Hp drive. VFD's have a maximum current limit so it would seem that you just wouldn't be able to develop full motor Hp. That way you could get a single phase 5Hp drive and not incur the expense of another motor. It will work if y...

Re: $th Axis install, errors galore

The DC1 becomes drive #1 and pushes the other axis down. You need to set parameters 300 to 303 and 308 to 311. So, (I think I have this correct) 300 should be 2, 301 should be 3, 302 should be 4 and 303 should be 1. Check 308 to 311 and make sure they read 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. Edit: Marc beat m...

Re: 1997 Bridgeport Romi CNC flat bed lathe Easy Path S

The meter that I am using does not allow for zeroing. I was hoping posting a pic of it connected would suffice. All meters show lead resistance unless zeroed. The lead resistance is about 0.1 ohms generally. What does your meter read when you connect the leads directly together? A new drive like mi...
