switching between 3 & 4 axis modes

I have recently gotten my 4th axis Hardinge 5C indexer functioning on my Prototrak DPM mill. Everything homes fine...when the indexer is hooked up. But that isn't always going to be the case. I have an Amphenol plug installed in the Centroid electronics cabinet matching the cable from the indexer so ...

Re: manual, oh manual, where art thou?

You forgot I'm apparently a blind idiot. ;)
Humble pie tastes terrible. My apologies!

Still, do my suggestions regarding rotary axis setup in the documentation have any merit?

Re: manual, oh manual, where art thou?

Thanks Keith!
Once I found the G & M code list and description pages, I understoood how to modify the homing file so the A axis homes quickly and reliably. And I also found my answer regarding Inverse Time mode (G93). I would note that I could not successfully download the CNC11 version 3.xx manual ...

manual, oh manual, where art thou?

OK... I must be stupid...or blind.
I have tried to find the programming and operator documentation for CNC11 both on the forum and on the Centroid sales websites. Would assume there would be a sticky at the top of the “Centroid Oak, Allin1DC, MPU11 and Legacy products” forum, or somewhere under the ...

Re: Configuring rotary axis parameters

CNCSNW--
Many thanks for the help. I did indeed have to change from "30" to "7" (no idea how I came up with 30 in the first place, maybe it was something I saw in some old documentation, like you said) and I did need to invert the input. Homes perfectly now... EXCEPT it still homes excruciatingly ...

Re: Configuring rotary axis parameters

UPDATE:
I have been stumbling around configuration parameters and have made some headway (I think).
On the MOTOR PARAMETERS page, I have:

Motor Rev/in: 0.166666667
Encoder counts/rev: 8,000
Limit - : 0
Limit + : 0
Home - : 30
Home + : 30
Dir Rev : Y
Screw Comp: N

That has the indexer spinning the ...

Configuring rotary axis parameters

I'm struggling to get my Haas 5c indexer to operate correctly when interfaced to the DC1 add-on axis. I believe I have the physical wiring done correctly but the installation manual really only walks you thru configuring a linear axis, so I have a few questions I hope someone can help clarify:

1 ...

Re: Bridgeport Spindle Encoder Design

Tom,
Regarding the magnet configuration:
Apparently option "B" ( [ B] - Stainless steel hub with vulcanised elastoferrite layer [02]) is no longer available.
I can only select option "A" (A -Stainless steel hub with bonded rubber tape)
I honestly don't know what the difference between the two is ...

Re: Bridgeport Spindle Encoder Design

Tom,
I am going to go ahead and order the encoder parts to do this to my mill. The part number for the reader head matches yours when I configure on the RLS website, but I get a slightly different number when configuring the ring.

Your number is: MR050C040A072 B 02
but I end up with: MR050C040A072 ...

upgrade requirements from CNC11 v3.16 to CNC12

It's been a while since I've messed around with my Centroid mill conversion (no time during summer months); but I am nearing the point where I am going to retire from my day job, and with that I will lose access to the Haas VF-3 I run to do my "government" work. My Trak DPM conversion runs, but ...
