What an excellent post! I have been pondering how to do a spindle encoder on my SWI Trak DPM retrofit on and off for quite some time now. This is such an elegant solution.

Man, when it rains, it pours. The final push to wrap this conversion up is going to have to wait a while longer. Had a water pipe break in the house. Right now, the priority is a functional kitchen and Air Conditioning again.
