Because if I have an issue and I come here for help, that’s the first thing they’ll say?
After having to keep an old XP computer running for way longer than necessary or practical, just to be able to run the old Shopbot controller, I’m a big fan of keeping things current.

Re: acorn with an old shopbot
I need to upgrade from 4.82 on my old PRT.
I’ll do that in the next week or two and let you know how it goes.

Re: Run from here.
"Run from here" or "Start at line #" or "Run from line #" would be fantastic. I recently did a 3d carving that could've used that for. Instead I manually edited my gcode file to "Run from Here" by deleting all the code before my "here" was. Not optim...

Re: Limit Switch Struggles Shopbot PRS
I agree with Gary.
Use them to home your machine.
And set your travel limits in the software.
That’s how my PRT is setup, works a treat.

Limit switches
I recently did a long running 3D carve over the span of several sessions (days). I shut everything down on the second day, and didn’t get back to it for a week. When I started it all up and continued, it was painfully obvious that my machine hadn’t zeroed in exactly the same position as before. This...

Re: Rough edge quality on baltic birch plywood arcs
It cuts like this at any spot on the table?
Maybe try rotating that circle to see if the flat spots rotate to?
That might help confirm it’s software or PP and not mechanical?

I forgot about those things...
Yes, you still need the resistors.
The 4g board from ShopBot had them soldered into the board right there by the driver, if I remember correctly.

Re: done something wrong, as g-203v onboard mini fuses keep frying.
Are you using the DB-25 connector or the header to connect your motors?
I did exactly what you're doing a couple years ago, built a new control box for my old PRT 4896 using the Geckos and those original high inductance motors. I had no problems whatsoever, at least none that weren't self inflicted.
