Good day today after all. Did a lot, got the machine running eventually after figuring out the hitches. I did get the machine to home and after that I got the turns ratio adjusted. 0.5 turns ratio is where I landed.
Adjusted the soft limits and have now 202mm x-axis, 125mm y-axis and 190mm z-axis ...

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Okay, since last post I have made my first part with CNC. Super happy with that. I have zero cad experience and no cad software (yet). So I did look into Intercon and made a short programm following the tutorials and examples.

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Got the spindle working aswell. Yet again many thanks for centroid467. All the wirings worked like a charm.
I also got the parking makro edited and that works now too.
I have now tweaked the base settings and I think the machine is pretty much ready to start working. Backlash was under 0.03mm ...

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
I did have to change the DriveOk input signal to NC state (red) and now the drives seem happy again.
Off to other activities for a momemt but I think I can continue to travel limits and axis setup plus home switches next.

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Thanks, I’ll take a look into photo album.
My steppers are Cloudray branded ones. Closed-loop type. And drivers CLE23. Seems to be very close to the Leadshine cs-d508 that are on the wiring instructions.

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Can someone enlighten me why is the +12V (in this schematic) brought to OUT1 relay and then wired to OUT4 with a jumper where laser enable is assigned? Wouldn’t it work the same if +12V were connected straight to OUT4 relay thus saving one output?

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Okay I did hit the alt-i and from the PLC diag I did force Input2 (that is my SpindleOk) to green and I got the jogging back on the axis.
Now the axis will move for a moment and then I get the 9031 Drive fault. Atleast some progress

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Thousand thanks centroid467! I did hook up the VFD according these instructions.
I did also run through the centroid wizard for the first time. I did select leadshine cs-d508 as axis motor drives.
I did match the input and output definitions as the machine is wired
Axis configuration I did only ...

Re: New Build, Emco PC Mill 50 with Acorn
Got the axises tested and moving! Good stuff. They seemed awfully slow though 😂 But the drives seem to be working. I got the homing switches and e-stop wired up also and tested them. Then moved on to spindle but after 1 hour of intensive staring at wiring diagrams and looking at the VFD manual I was ...
