Re: Tools float above workpiece

Thanks guys, it seems both suggestions took care of the problem. Setting parameter #3 to 4 and making a library in Fusion 360 that matched the one I have on CNC12. Thanks again!

Re: Tools float above workpiece

While it is running, and the tools are not at the depth you expect, you need to look at four things:
1) What are the Z coordinates called out in the G codes. In the program you posted, the facing is at Z0.0, and the next operation is down around Z-.760, so that is probably correct.
2) What Z ...

Tools float above workpiece

Now that the mill hardware works correctly and have uploaded 1st post process from Fusion 360 to the CNC12 software, I've run the program several times and each attempt I get, each of the tools float above the workpiece about 1-2 inches and never engage the part. It appears to have the correct tool ...

Re: Ballscrew Comp 2nd & 3rd Attempts

you got to get steps per rev, overall turns ratio correct before doing any ballscrew mapping. mapping is the last thing you do.

.62625 is not the overall turns ratio of this machine.

some simple math show that you have the Clearpath MSP software set to 800 and by the report.zip i see you have ...

Re: Ballscrew Comp 2nd & 3rd Attempts

need more info. photos of your machine for starters. make a photo album and post the link here.
what kind of differences are you seeing in the runs? .00001"? or .01"?

I have attached a pic of the machine and one of the most recent ballscrew attempts on the Z axis. Some of the numbers are well ...

Re: Ballscrew Comp 2nd & 3rd Attempts

Ballscrew comp is not something you iterate on. You command a position, measure the actual position, and record the difference in the table. Comp tables will have values in tenths, or less than 10 microns. Backlash values will be less than a couple of thousandths (50 microns or less).

If your ...

Ballscrew Comp 2nd & 3rd Attempts

I watched the video on how to do the backlash and the ballscrew compensation. However, I am still off and would like to dial it in a lot closer. What is the process for adjusting the tables to account for the small differences on the 2nd or 3rd go around? I've tried doing a separate run and then ...

Re: Spindle Doesn't Operate with VFD in CNC12

Here's the response I got from Automation Direct. Do I use Acorn's 0-10V output and land it on the 4-20 mA inputs inside the Drive? Also would be helpful to know which wire goes to each input since they aren't labeled. See attached schematic. Thanks!
