Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
Is that a 9mm mounting hole for the rotary encoders? or something different? Most of the ones I've used and have kicking around here with a 6mm shaft have a 9mm mounting diameter. Just checking before I start drilling!

Wiring up home switches
Lathe setup, so only X and Z axis. No limit switches, I'll set soft limits since I have closed loop steppers.
Is there a reason I should wire the home switches in series to one input, rather than to separate inputs? I have the input since I'm not using limit switches.

Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
Cool. the 3 position switch works for me. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to come close to using up all the inputs on the USB-BOB, so that should work for me.

Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
On my lathe I really only need to use two of the rotary encoder knobs: one for spindle speed and one for feed rate. I don't think I need to control rapid speeds since it's a very small lathe. Can the third rotary encoder be used as a multiplier for the X and Z MPGs I'm going to add? eg: 1x, 10x, 100...

Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
Question about the ribbon cables: how long are they and can they be extended if they're short? I think I'll need about 5 feet of cable to run from the electronics box on the back of my lathe, then below it and up into the front control panel. If they're not long enough, what kind of connectors are y...

Re: Centroid Operator Control Panel Interface Board: USB-BOB
I'd prefer black, so I can put labels above or below the knobs on the panel. It think it'd drive me nuts if the text wasn't perfectly horizontal on the knobs! or maybe black with provided stickers for the panel they're mounted to?

Re: Does this kind of wired MPG work with Acorn?
Very cool. Thanks for this - printing up a mockup of the board now to see how I can fit it in!

Re: Does this kind of wired MPG work with Acorn?
I am currently laying out the electronics in my lathe and want to leave some space for this new board in case I decide to get it. Are there dimensions available? An approximate size is ok, but position of the mounting holes even better, so I can pre-drill some standoffs for it. I'd rather do that no...

Re: Wiring multiple closed loop steppers
ok, thanks. So if I put them both on the same terminal the only downside would be that I won't know which motor alarmed if it happens, but if I keep them separate I will?
